Last month mugged me—thank goodness for (fr33) books 📚

Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day, Reader!

Congratulations on making it through January!

If yours went anyting like mine, I fully support splurging on the good chocolate 🍫 this weekend—no justifications required.

Flood Town

Woe! On the last day of an awesome writing retreat, I received the kind of phone call no home dweller wants to hear: there’s been a leak and my condo is flooded.

Whoa! I arrived home to find ruined floors and ceiling, soaked area rugs, dripping light fixtures, and an air fryer I will never be plugging in again.

Whew! Thankfully, I was able to quickly assess that no camels were harmed, no books submerged, and none of my really precious “stuff” got damaged.

Woof. It’s now been roughly a month since I slept in my own bed. For this high-stability gal, it’s been a lot to take—even as I try to keep my blessings front and foremost, like still being able to write and having friends who show up when it counts.

The good news is that we’re making slow, steady progress on the mitigation, and repairs are finally on the horizon—which means we may have another poll before too long to help me choose the new paint colors for the living room…

Camel Naming Poll Results

Last month I invited folks to help me name my newest camelly (rhymes with family) member. Drum roll, please—I’d like to formally introduce you to Dame Camelotta! She has temporarily moved into my day-job office while our home is being mended. I think she looks pretty serene in her new temporary digs.

Thanks to everyone for helping this sweetie find her name!
