Dear Reader, I ask some version of this question every year: And every year I get the same answer: It’s a mystery! (Quick: what swoony 1990s movie features that line, spoken by the Bard of Avon? Answer below.) I Love it When a "Plan" Comes TogetherMy May bingo card included celebrating my birthday, a writing retreat cruise to Bermuda, and moving back into my condo post flood renovation—or as I have taken to calling it: my protracted journey in the wilderness. I love filling out a bingo card each month—the process gives me time to reflect on what vibe I want to set for the near future of my life. True confessions, though: I treat squares more as “intentions” than something so rigid and adult-y as “firm goals.” (Here are blank monthly bingo cards—featuring Camuel, our favorite camel mascot!—if you’d like to fill in your own: Monthly Bingo (8.5 x 11 in).pdf) My Camel Cohort Grows by Two - POLL!My birthday lunch was fa-bu-lous! Some of my favorite humans gathered for lunch on Memorial Day. We spent hours talking, laughing, and simply enjoying one another’s company. The unexpected bonus? My camel cohort was enriched by two beautiful camels—a plush blanket and a cute canvas tote—and boy, do they need names! We know what that means… Time for a poll!
A Heated Writing Retreat? The writing retreat cruise was so much fun! Just the kind of pause in routine I needed.
If you like opposites attract, sports, grumpy-grumpier, male/male, or really ANY kind of romance, you will not regret watching this six episode series. It earns ALL the feels and I’m jonesing to rewatch it already. Have you seen it? What did you think? June's Book JamYou know I have your back when it comes to this reading addiction we share. This month, I’ve rounded up a couple of excellent reasons to ignore your bedtime: Closing Out June and Prepping for JulyMy mom and her partner are coming to help me organize my condo — Yay! — I promise to share some good “after” photos in the next newsletter! — then I return to my hometown with them for a weekend to catch up with more family and friends. When I come back, I’m keeping the to-do list for the rest of June and July as pared down as possible:
May your summer to-do list stay unburdened from anything you actually have to, you know, do. Ciao for now, Keely J. KEELY THRALL P.S. The movie featuring the line "It's a mystery!" is Shakespeare in Love, which came out in 1998 and remains one of the few movies I’ve seen three times in a movie theater. The other two are The Breakfast Club (so much delicious 1980s teen angst!) and My Big Fat Greek Wedding (all the smooshy family love vibes). I’ve seen plenty of movies more than 3 times, but for whatever reason, these pinged a need in me to rewatch them asap, like it was my job or something. As a storyteller, maybe it is? 🤨 Have you ever obsessed over a movie enough to cough up the ticket price to see it more than once at the movies? Hit reply and let me know! |

My heroine is on a date with a perfectly nice man who talks about cat probiotics. Naturally, she can’t stop thinking about the hot stranger she met in a restroom. Hiya, Reader!
